O.L. Thompson Construction Co., Inc. has been operating borrow pits in the Charleston area for most of its 65-year history. Each and every borrow operation is conducted in an environmentally conscious manner with attention to wildlife, water quality, community impact, and reclamation. We currently operate several in the tri-county area.
Environmentally Responsible
Sewee Preserve (shown above) is an excellent example of the final results of a completed commercial operation. This scenic lake in the heart of a natural residential preserve was once a busy pit operation. As the sand supply diminished, the pit was transformed into a recreational amenity teeming with wildlife.
