ABOUT OLTC Our History

Founded in 1948 by O.L. Thompson Jr., our company began as a small grading and hauling company based in Hanahan, South Carolina. Steady growth led to increased success, and O.L. Thompson III assumed the reigns in 1973.

Since then, the company has become one of the largest and most stable contracting firms in the state of South Carolina. It has diversified by developing related enterprises that add strength to its core business model and provide a broad base of support. These include Thompson Trucking Co., Inc., and various development, material, and management companies.

The companies are always moving forward and have a strong continuity plan. In 2003, O.L. Thompson III moved to the position of CEO and was succeeded as President by David Hand, an engineer who joined the firm in 1987. In addition, long term employees Trent Kirk, Matthew Thompson, and Dan Thompson were named Vice Presidents. Continuity is reinforced by a steady influx of talent in management and supervision.

SMOOTH TRANSITION TO

The Future

A comprehensive succession plan has been implemented to provide a smooth transition for the next generation of employees and to ensure the continued success of the companies for decades to come.
